Day: Samarkand – Penjikent
- Iskandarkul (70 km + 130km)

Drive to Penjikent. Croos Uzbek-Tadjik
border.
Attention, the clients must
walk on foot about 100 m with
their luggage. The guide will
take care about all Visa formalities.
Pendjikent (Tajikistan) is
a town located 70 km East
of Samarkand. One of the interesting
places in the city is Rudaki
Museum. Pendjikent is the
birthplace of Abu Abdallah
Rudaki, the Samanid court
poet considered by many to
be the father of Persian poetry.
2 km from the modern town
Pendjikent there are ruines
of ancient Pendjikent (Bunjikath)
a major Sogdian town founded
in 5th century and abandoned
in 8th century when Arabs
came. Foundations of houses,
a citadel with a Zoroastrian
temples, city bazaar.
Sightseeing incl:
• Ancient Penjikent
- ruines of old Sogdian town
founded in 5th century and
abandoned in th 8th century
by arabs. Foundations of houses,
a citadel with a couple of
Zoroastrian fire temples and
city bazaar are visible in
the excavated ruines.
• Museum of Rudaki –
As Penjikent is a birthplace
of Abu Abdallah Rudaki, considered
by many to be the father of
Persian Poetry.
P.M. Lunch at the waterfall.
Drive to Iskandarkul lake.
Upon arrival accommodation
at Tourist camping.
• Enjoy the beauty of
the lake which located in
the mountains in the altitude
of 2255 metres, depth of the
lake is 72 m.
Dinner at the bank of the
lake.

day: Iskandarkul – Dushanbe
(230 km) Tadjikiston *** |

Breakfast.
Free time at the lake.
Drive to Dushanbe via Anzob
pass (3372 m). Collectively
known as Fan mountains these
are favoured place for trekking
and climbing.
P.M. Lunch in local tea house
en route.
Upon arrival to Dushanbe accommodation
at hotel.
Dinner & o/n hotel.

day : Dushanbe Tadjikiston *** |
A.M.
Breakfast. Sightseeing of Dushanbe
incl :
• Museum of ethnography
– professional showcase
of 20th century Tajik art. The
collection includes pottery,
carpets, cloaks, embroidery,
jewellery, musical instruments,
woodwork and more.
• Tadjikistan Unified
Museum includes the exhibits
on history, natural history
and art. Among the more interesting
items are exhibits on Islamic
samarkand and Bukhara.
P.M. Lunch in the city. Afternoon
visits incl :
• Hissar fortress the
remains of an 18th century
fortress, occupied until 1924
is located in 30 km west of
Dushanbe. Beside the fortress
are two plain madrassahs,
one dating from the 18th century
and the other 19th, and beyond
them is the mausoleum of 16th
century.

day : Dushanbe – Khodjand
(Air) – Tashkent (310
km) |

Breakfast.
Transfer to airport for flight
Dushanbe-Khodjand.
PM. Lunch in local restaurant.
Cross Tadjik-Uzbek border.
Continue drive to Tashkent.
